Veteran's Day Late post

As a vet, I felt some obligation to publicly acknowledge veteran's day, but this year, we didn't do the norm of trying to find deals or cheaper dinners out. We went to a parade in town (apparently the largest one west of the Mississippi), and spent the time with some other military families. It was a cold but lovely day and I think it ended up being the best way to spend the weekend, learning more about the military history of Leavenworth (see: Buffalo Soldiers, Colin Powell, Fort Leavenworth).
Baby A. wore his Navy best Bill the Goat hat, and promptly fell asleep through the parade because it was during his nap time. We went out to eat lunch afterwards in town a few blocks away from the parade, and he stayed asleep until we were done! I felt like a typical old Navy vet wearing my first command ball cap. All said, I think it was one of the best and most relaxing Veteran's Day weekends we've had as a family, spent just reveling in the enjoyment of the day.

Also some recent updates: we have already started to celebrate Christmas with some local events, like the holiday bazaar and tree lighting in downtown Leavenworth. I am excited to celebrate with Baby A. now that he's going to notice a lot more of the decorations and festivities surrounding Christmas, as opposed to last year where he was mostly just entranced by the lights and sparkly objects. At this bazaar and tree lighting, he danced to holiday music, ran around, and ate a LOT of pulled pork (shoutout to hubs for the sharing of his own meal haha).

It's gotten much colder here in Kansas, which I expected but still do not really enjoy, except the cute hats and coats and sweaters that Baby A. has to wear. I fell prey to some adorable Baby Gap items while shopping with a friend, so it's a good thing he'll have occasion to wear things like knit hats and sweaters often.
Lastly, we are almost full up round on teeth at our house! Those canines are just about fully in and he's got almost all his molars. I believe he will have another dentist's appointment in the winter and it'll be interesting to hear what they have to say now that he's gained so many more teeth! Luckily for me, he's good about brushing his teeth as long as I let him suck on the toothbrush once we're done the actual brushing.

Let's hope he also will learn to enjoy flossing- eek!!

Hope to update sooner next time,

-Big A.⚓
